Let me tell you how this homemade recipe came to be. Growing up, my mom did not want my sister and me to eat a famous hazelnut spread and took it upon herself to make us something “healthier”. She took the two ingredients that she knew we would like, dark chocolate and milk, and melted them together. She called it “Chocolat Magique”, which translates to magic chocolate. Let me tell you, we didn’t just like it. We loved it; we had this magic chocolate spread daily for the last ten years.

This recipe follows a simple 1:5 ratio. The yield will depend on how much of the ingredients you decide to use.

  • 150g Chocolate

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate and the milk in a saucepan
  2. Simmer over low heat until the chocolate is melted and smooth
  3. Remove from the heat and place in a heatproof bowl

Now that you’ve made this recipe, you must have two questions:

  1. What can I use this for?

  2. How do I store it?

The first question is answered with whatever your heart desires! Whether you want to enjoy it on a piece of toast or freshly baked crêpes, it is up to you. You can also use it as a dip for fresh fruit, pretzels, or marshmallows. Or gift a jar to a fellow chocolate lover—it makes a thoughtful and delicious present!

Now, how do you store this homemade spread? You can simply put it in the fridge for a couple of days. I recommend not more than two days; you can simply reheat the spread in the microwave. Make sure to microwave it slowly and only in 10-second bursts.

This recipe is one that is very dear to my heart and I hope that you will love it as much as I do. What would you like to try this magic chocolate on?

Much Love,

Léna 🫶🏻
